Nebraska ARES Section Emergency Communication Plan & Mutual Aid Exercises

The Nebraska ARRL Section Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) organizes volunteer ham radio operators into structured emergency communication teams supporting local, county, and state authorities.

Under the Nebraska ARES Emergency Plan, District Emergency Coordinators (DECs) and Emergency Coordinators (ECs) establish interoperable radio links with the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), county emergency managers, Red Cross chapters, and healthcare facilities.

ARES volunteers undergo training in ICS/NIMS procedures, message handling, and emergency power deployment to ensure rapid response during floods, winter blizzards, and grid failures.
